This support guide is intended to assist you in creating a story within your document. A story will give your collaborators the ability to make text edit suggestions within your proof. Text amends can then be automatically flowed into the document by the designer when reviewing the proof feedback.
Open the GoProof extension and select the Stories tab.
This method is ideal if your proof only requires one copy editor to edit the text.
Step 1.
Click on the + ≡ icon within the Stories tab of your GoProof extension.
Step 2.
Enter a Story Name, leave the Create a story per page checkbox option unticked and click Create to add all the text frames in your document to your Story.
Note: This method will only allow one collaborator to edit the proof text at one time. If you have more than one collaborator that will need to edit the proof text at the same time, please see one of the other methods for more information.
If you wish to create a Story for each page of your document and automatically add all the text frames from each page to their corresponding story in one go, the Story per page option is the quickest way to do it. This method will allow multiple collaborators to edit the proof text on different pages at the same time.
Step 1.
Click on the + ≡ icon within the Stories tab of your GoProof extension and enter your story name.
Step 2.
Enter a Story Name, enable the Create a story per page checkbox option and click Create.
Tip: An idea for a Story Name could be the word 'Page', the page number is automatically appended the to the end of the story name for each page/story in your proof.
Note: If your document contains threaded text frames that are linked across multiple pages, the text is only editable in the story that the first frame in the thread is placed.
If you do not want to automatically add all of your document text frames to a story and you want more control over which text frames to add, the Story per document (Selected text frames) is the best option for you.
Step 1.
Click on the + icon within the Stories tab of your GoProof extension.
Step 2.
Enter a Story Name and click Create.
Step 3.
Within your document select a text frame and click on the + next to the Story you want to add the text frame to.
Step 4.
Once completed the text frame will be listed under the story name.
Tip: You can create multiple Stories within your proof and you can assign the frames you want to each story manually. For example, you could create multiple stories on a single page which allows multiple collaborators to edit different frames in each story that are on the same page or you may create a story that contains text frames from different pages in your proof.
With all of the above methods you will see a green T icon on each text frame in your document that has been successfully added to your stories, providing you are viewing your InDesign document in Normal mode.
Note: The text frames are also displayed as a list under your chosen story in the Stories tab. Clicking on the text frame in the list will highlight the text frame in your InDesign document.
If your document does contain threaded text boxes and you want to add the different text boxes to a different story then you will be required to break the link between the text boxes. GoProof has a handy tool that will quickly allow you to do that.
Step 1.
Select the text box in your document where you want to break the link.
Step 2.
Right Click and select GoProof > Split Story.
Step 3.
Select whether you want to Split the story above or after the Selection and click Step 2.
